    New 2017 DSR

I've just received my 2017 DSR with power tank this week and I'm anxious to set it up and start using it. I don't commute and tend to ride long rides in remote places (northern NV), so I plan on getting the Diginow charger to make life manageable as most of my rides are 200mi+ with a fair amount of off-road.

I'm curious to hear if others are using their DS/DSR similarly and if so, what have you done to it and what has been successful?

My plans are to put the Diginow in the topbox (which I need to add), panniers, touring windscreen, brushguards, RAM mounts for GPS/radar detector, heated gear connect, handlebar power socket for GPS and likely LED bulbs all around. Am I missing anything?

Here in Reno, I have only a 2017 Zero DS ZF 6.5. But at my other home in Auburn, CA, I have a 2017 Zero SR ZF 13.0 with Power Tank.

On both bikes, I have the hard panniers, the cable for dual quick chargers, NOT used for dual chargers, even though I have three quick chargers. I have my three Quick-chargers at three different houses. Two in the Reno area. I have the cable permanently tied to the left saddebag rail on both bikes. This makes it MUCH easier to connect up the quick charger which is otherwise rather difficult to connect with the saddle bags installed unless they are removed. I can still use it for two external quick chargers, but never have.

I also have the adapter cable to convert car ChagePoint cables to the onboard charger. Not only that, I have an additional cable, not supplied by Zero, so I can use the onboard charger and a quick charger (carried in a saddebag) at the same time while on the road, from the same ChargePoint. Unlike home outlets, the ChagrePoints can handle the higher current of the two chargers with ease.

So with my little limited range 2017 DS ZF 6.5, I was able to ride to south Carson City from northern Reno and back. I charged up at the Tamarack Casino and then again in Carson City, I used the quick charger at all charger stops so the wait to charge was not that long. I took my Zero DS ZF 6.5 to Carson City and back just yesterday.

I did change my head lamp bulb to a LED, but it was a tight fit. Some will not fit. I use the one with the heat sinks (no fan) and had to take it apart a bit so it would fit. But it works well. 40 w draw instead of 65w, and a very bright white light.

I could not find the 12 volt accessory connector on my SR with the powertank. I gave up looking and just wired it into the low beam of the headlight. I have a switch so I can turn off the low beam and still get the ten amps current if needed, to run a tire compressor or whatever.

I had no problem finding this connector under the tank plastic of the DS bike, so I know what I was looking for. I just could not find it with the power tank.

On both bikes I have a Garmin Zumo 390 LM with the tire TPMS sensors.

I see your post is quite old, so what have you done with your E-bike? You have had yours longer than either of mine.
